For the third consecutive year PKR.com co-hosted the UK’s most glamorous tournament and auction to benefit the international work of the children’s charity – the annual event proved a huge success, raising a staggering £100,000 for children in need. The tournament was won by Beverley Pace, wife of comedian Norman Pace, followed by actor Michael Greco in second place with Dexter Fletcher of Hotel Babylon and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels fame in third.

Additional celebrities who enjoyed the champagne reception and poker action included PKR.com’s Team PKR Pro member Ashley Hames (presenter of  Sin Cities & Man’s Work), Radio One DJ Colin Murray, Primeval star Douglas Henshall, actress and writer Emma Kennedy, Patrick Baladi from No Heroics and Mistresses, Coronation Street’s Charlie Condou, and comedians Hardeep Singh Kohli, Norman Pace and Richard Herring.

Poker pros also took part with double World Poker Tour and European Poker Tour winner Roland De Wolfe, poker legend and former Olympian Donnacha O’Dea and Irish Open runner up Kara Scott dropping by to raise the game.

Tickets to the event cost £365 – which included the champagne reception plus a buy-in into either the PKR.com sponsored poker tournament or the ninth annual Omar Sharif Backgammon Tournament. This entry fee represented the cost of sponsoring a child for one year at £1 per day. The funds raised from this event will enable the One to One Children’s Fund to provide support and care for more than 1,000 children and their families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. One to One Projects also work in Israel focusing on co-existence work amongst Druse, Bedouin, Christian, Muslim and Jewish children in a bid to contribute to the Peace Initiative.
